Talent Acquisition Specialist

Salary Range: $57,700 - $72,100

At Midland States Bank, the base salary is one aspect of our Total Rewards program. The exact compensation is influenced by various factors including education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This role may also offer additional compensation through short-term incentives (such as bonuses and/or commissions) and could include long-term incentives (like stock awards). Benefits for this position encompass comprehensive healthcare, well-being benefits, paid family leave, and generous paid time off. Total Rewards also feature banking perks, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, a 401K plan with company match, and the potential to participate in our Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation plan. Position Overview

The Talent Acquisition Specialist is tasked with executing effective recruitment strategies to attract and select high-quality candidates for Midland States Bank. The primary responsibilities of the Recruiter include, but are not limited to, sourcing, interviewing, job advertisement placement, conducting pre-screening background checks, evaluating candidates, and extending job offers.

This individual will employ a variety of sourcing techniques including cold-calling, networking, online postings, social media outreach, interviews, and assessments, ensuring that all candidates have a positive experience throughout the recruitment process. The Specialist will act as a consultant to both hiring managers and candidates regarding the selection and hiring process, ensuring a robust talent pipeline for key positions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, source, and screen candidates, resumes, and job applications.
  • Conduct interviews utilizing various reliable recruitment and selection tools to filter candidates efficiently and professionally.
  • Maintain an understanding of business performance expectations and apply this knowledge to execute sourcing strategies.
  • Promote the sourcing and hiring of diverse talent by integrating diversity and inclusion into the recruitment process.
  • Source and attract diverse candidates through various networks and social media to engage both passive and active job seekers.
  • Serve as a point of contact and cultivate strong candidate relationships to enhance the recruitment pipeline and successful placements.
  • Identify recruitment trends and needs through ongoing internal and external monitoring.
  • Research candidates and job positions thoroughly.
  • Network through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups, social media, cold calling, and referrals.
  • Collaborate proactively with universities, organizations, or professional trade groups to foster inclusive and diverse relationships.
  • Provide constructive feedback to candidates to aid in their professional development.
  • Ensure internal equity is considered when finalizing recommended compensation.
  • Assist hiring managers in utilizing assessment tools and behavioral interview techniques.
  • Regularly meet with hiring managers to facilitate intake meetings, calibration discussions, and ensure open communication regarding recruitment strategies and candidate pipelines.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions for hiring managers and business leaders on talent acquisition topics, trends, and recruitment processes.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Hiring Managers and HR throughout the recruitment lifecycle.

  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
  • This role may require occasional travel for training and team meetings.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the recruitment field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with an applicant tracking system (ATS).
  • At least 2 years' experience in proactively sourcing and cold-calling both active and passive candidates.
  • Experience with diverse sourcing methodologies and social recruiting strategies, as well as building purposeful networking relationships.
  • Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity and affirmative action requirements related to hiring practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, counseling, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
  • Experience working with external recruiters is preferred.
