Key Responsibilities

The Credentialing Coordinator II is responsible for overseeing credentialing operations at the division level, which includes data management and the maintenance of physician databases. This role acts as a vital link between healthcare providers and facilities throughout the credentialing process. The coordinator must possess a thorough understanding of State and Federal regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and other essential factors impacting the credentialing landscape.

Core Duties
  • Initiates and manages the collection of primary source information for credentialing purposes. Ensures that all documentation for initial appointments and reappointments is verified and maintained confidentially.
  • Conducts detailed evaluations of primary source documents to assess qualifications and competencies. Identifies potential quality of care concerns and prepares summaries for review.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for practitioners during the credentialing process, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Maintains an accurate and secure database of physician and allied health professional information, ensuring compliance with data entry policies.
  • Mentors junior credentialing staff and contributes to the development of best practices within the team.
  • Escalates any concerns regarding credentialing documentation and verification timelines as necessary.
  • Supports system standardization efforts and actively participates in the implementation of best practices.
  • Monitors and manages all required expirables related to credentialing.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned in a timely and effective manner.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • A minimum of ten (10) years in medical staff services or five (5) years with relevant credentialing certifications.
  • An Associate's degree is preferred.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience with credentialing databases, preferably MSOW or Cactus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent data entry capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize and coordinate data effectively.
  • Ability to navigate complex interpersonal situations and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and practitioners.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills based on relevant information.
  • Capacity to manage day-to-day responsibilities effectively.
