Key Responsibilities
The Credentialing Coordinator II will oversee credentialing operations at the division level, ensuring efficient data management and maintenance of physician databases. This role involves acting as a liaison between healthcare providers and facilities throughout the credentialing process. The coordinator will analyze regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with accreditation standards. Additionally, this position will mentor junior team members and collaborate with leadership to enhance credentialing practices.
Core Duties
- Initiate and manage the collection of primary source information for credentialing purposes, ensuring all documentation is verified and maintained confidentially.
- Conduct thorough evaluations of all primary source documents to assess qualifications and competencies, identifying any potential issues that may arise.
- Serve as the main point of contact for practitioners during the credentialing process, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Maintain an accurate and secure database of physician and allied health professional information, utilizing credentialing platforms effectively.
- Mentor less experienced team members and actively contribute to the development of best practices within the credentialing department.
- Escalate any concerns regarding documentation or verification timelines appropriately, ensuring timely communication with facilities.
- Support standardization efforts across the system and division, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Monitor and manage all required expirables related to credentialing.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, ensuring all tasks are completed competently and efficiently.
Required Education and Experience:
- A minimum of ten (10) years in medical staff services or five (5) years with relevant credentialing certifications.
- An associate's degree is preferred.
- Experience with credentialing databases, preferably MSOW or Cactus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent data entry capabilities and task prioritization skills.
- Ability to work remotely while maintaining confidentiality and meeting deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills to synthesize and coordinate data effectively.
- Ability to handle complex tasks and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Capable of making informed decisions and exercising sound judgment.
- Demonstrated responsibility for managing day-to-day workload effectively.
