Compensation Structure:
Behavioral Support Specialist I, SR-14: $3,730.00 per month
Behavioral Support Specialist II, SR-16: $4,038.00 per month
The role involves the implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) with precision, utilizing effective behavior management strategies for students facing significant behavioral challenges.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and nurturing relationships with students to foster a supportive environment that enhances social engagement.
- Encouraging safe and socially acceptable alternative behaviors to develop communication, social skills, and problem-solving abilities, while gradually reducing prompts to encourage independent responses.
- Increasing the occurrence and duration of positive behaviors by providing access to reinforcers, such as desired activities or attention.
- Collecting, documenting, and analyzing various behavioral data, including A-B-C data, frequency counts, and duration metrics.
- Supporting instructional tasks aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and ABA methodologies, employing evidence-based practices for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental challenges.
- Overseeing independent study or small group instruction as directed by licensed professionals, ensuring clarity in instruction and monitoring student understanding.
- Facilitating off-campus instructional activities that encompass academic, social, vocational, and daily living skills.
- Reporting on student progress and behavioral observations to licensed behavior analysts and educators, offering insights for follow-up actions.
- Engaging in professional development through meetings, workshops, and training to stay informed about current behavioral and instructional strategies.
Essential Educational Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or equivalent, along with one of the following educational credentials:
- 48 semester credits of baccalaureate-level coursework from an accredited institution recognized by the relevant educational authority.
- An Associate in Arts (AA) or Science (AS) degree from an accredited institution, ensuring a minimum of 48 credits in baccalaureate-level courses.
- Successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment administered by the Education Testing Service (ETS).
Experience Requirements:
Applicants must demonstrate progressively responsible experience in relevant roles:
- Behavioral Support Specialist I: 1 year of general experience, 2 years of specialized experience.
- Behavioral Support Specialist II: 1 year of general experience, 2 years of specialized experience, and 1 year of technical experience.
General Experience:
Experience involving direct interaction with individuals, showcasing the ability to gather and relay information, evaluate situations, and report accurately.
Specialized Experience:
Experience that includes direct engagement with students, managing activities, and addressing behavioral and developmental challenges.
Technical Experience:
Progressively responsible experience similar to that of the Behavioral Support Specialist I, focusing on providing individualized behavioral intervention services.
Registered Behavior Technician Requirement:
Candidates must hold certification as a Registered Behavior Technician from a recognized behavior analysis organization and maintain annual recertification.
Driver's License Requirement:
A valid driver's license is required for this position.
Salary:
The stated salary reflects full-time employment and may include applicable differentials.
