ACCOUNTING CLERK

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a dedicated Accounting Clerk at Homes for the Homeless, Inc. This entry-level position within our Finance Department focuses primarily on the Accounts Payable sector, playing a vital role in maintaining the organization's financial integrity and internal controls. The Accounting Clerk will report directly to the Controller, contributing to our mission of supporting the community.

Our family residences offer more than just a roof over their heads; they provide access to a variety of onsite programs designed to support families during their stay and beyond. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process monthly reimbursement claims efficiently.
  • Maintain an accurate vendor checklist and organize invoices within our accounting software.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Compile monthly employee fringe benefits reconciliation reports.
  • Reconcile monthly credit card transactions.
  • Ensure monthly bank statements are reconciled.
  • Assist in the petty cash audit for our various facilities.
  • Maintain monthly rental income schedules.
  • Handle weekly deposits and receivable entries.
  • Support the Grant Manager with monthly expenditure reports.
  • Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Provide assistance to the purchasing team as required.
  • Participate in quarterly inventory counts as needed.
  • Support all audit processes.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or associate degree with relevant accounting experience.
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct Accounting Software is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet applications.
  • Competent in MS Office suite.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
