Role Summary: The EHS Manager will be responsible for the development and management of comprehensive EHS programs at the facility. This role involves collaboration with both site leadership and corporate EHS teams to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and other regulatory requirements, fostering a safe and healthy workplace.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Corporate EHS Director to create and implement strategies that enhance employee safety awareness and minimize workplace incidents.
  • Engage with site teams to promote adherence to EHS policies and practices, ensuring all employees understand their roles in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Provide expert guidance on safety, health, and environmental issues, addressing concerns and identifying hazards while recommending best practices.
  • Lead the development of risk assessment protocols to proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Manage incident reporting and investigation processes, ensuring thorough analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Facilitate safety committee meetings, overseeing inspections and ensuring follow-up on action items.
  • Administer the workers' compensation program, ensuring timely reporting and proactive ergonomic assessments.
  • Oversee chemical and hazardous materials management, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Implement environmental initiatives, including waste recycling and energy conservation efforts.
  • Serve as the primary contact for local, state, and federal EHS inquiries, maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct audits and develop necessary programs to support compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure effective training programs are in place for all employees, maintaining accurate training records.
  • Mentor and develop EHS team members, providing ongoing performance feedback and support.


Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or Environmental Science preferred; advanced degrees are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety and environmental management, preferably in food manufacturing.
  • Experience in leading teams and managing direct reports.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated success in implementing effective EHS programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.
  • Strong understanding of workers' compensation processes and safety management.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
