Role Summary: The EHS Manager will be responsible for the development and management of EHS programs within the facility. This role involves collaboration with both site leadership and corporate EHS teams to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and other relevant regulations, fostering a safe and healthy workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Corporate EHS Director to design and implement effective strategies that enhance employee safety awareness and minimize risks.
- Engage with site teams to ensure the effective execution of EHS programs, promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
- Provide expert guidance on safety, health, and environmental matters, assisting teams in hazard identification and risk management.
- Lead the development of risk assessment protocols to proactively address potential hazards.
- Manage incident reporting and investigation processes, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Facilitate safety committee activities, ensuring regular inspections and follow-ups on safety initiatives.
- Oversee the administration of the workers' compensation program, ensuring timely reporting and effective management of claims.
- Participate in the management of hazardous materials and chemical safety programs, ensuring compliance with safety data sheet requirements.
- Implement environmental initiatives aimed at sustainability, including waste reduction and energy conservation practices.
- Serve as the primary contact for local, state, and federal EHS inquiries, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain EHS reporting systems to track performance metrics and compliance status.
- Coordinate with HR to ensure comprehensive EHS training programs are in place and that records are maintained accurately.
- Mentor and develop EHS team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates will possess the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or Environmental Science; advanced degrees are advantageous.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety and environmental management, preferably in food manufacturing.
- Proven leadership experience with direct-reporting teams.
Skills and Competencies:
- Demonstrated success in implementing effective EHS programs.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to food processing.
- Strong understanding of workers' compensation processes and OSHA regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with familiarity in LEAN and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging diverse audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
