Position Overview:

The Reliability Maintenance Specialist is tasked with overseeing the project management of the design and implementation of various utility systems, including water, sewer, gas, ammonia, steam, and electrical projects. This role will collaborate closely with the Maintenance Department to identify and address machine reliability challenges effectively. Additionally, the Specialist will engage with multiple contractors and subcontractors to ensure that these systems are constructed efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate plans for new construction initiatives to ensure compliance with local regulations and standards.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of existing utility systems to assess the necessity and feasibility of enhancements.
  • Design and plan new utility systems, including water and sewer lines, as well as power distribution lines.
  • Collaborate with contractors to formulate plans for new construction projects and review them to ensure adherence to engineering standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors to facilitate project initiation and ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
  • Perform site inspections to verify that construction activities align with established plans.
  • Conduct necessary equipment testing to confirm proper functionality.
  • Manage improvements to facilities and utilities, including equipment modifications and upgrades.
  • Provide engineering support to plant operations, encompassing overall facilities, utilities, and equipment, while leading plant shutdowns.
  • Schedule and coordinate adequate departmental coverage based on business requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to develop operating and capital budgets aligned with production forecasts and site objectives.
  • Offer engineering assistance to operations and maintenance teams regarding various utilities and production equipment and systems.
  • Initiate and execute capital improvement projects with a focus on utilities/power and maintenance/reliability.
  • Work with the EHS Manager to establish and implement management systems that enhance Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance.
  • Ensure EHS compliance of equipment, including safe and environmentally responsible operations.
  • Support site safety and training initiatives, maintain maintenance/engineering job procedures, and participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations.

Requirements:

Qualified applicants will possess the following:

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of project engineering experience in facilities, utilities, and production machinery is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications is essential.
  • Strong technical leadership and comprehensive understanding of plant utility system interdependencies.
  • Demonstrated capability to design new systems, troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, implement corrective and preventive measures, and optimize utility systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a dynamic and complex environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Quickly acclimates and adapts to business acumen, demonstrating strategic thinking through prior experience.
  • Well-developed interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with diverse personalities, both internally and externally.
  • Strong financial and budget management skills.
  • Proven project management abilities, including managing contractor relationships and driving results during project execution.
  • A collaborative team player capable of fostering cross-functional relationships both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the development and documentation of equipment specifications, user requirement specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis, and proposals for integrating new machinery and utilities into the site.
