Position Summary
We are currently in search of a Senior Cost Estimation Specialist in Energy Engineering, who will report directly to the Study Manager and join our consulting team.Key Responsibilities
- Develop AACE Class V/IV/III CAPEX and OPEX estimates specifically for the energy and chemicals sectors.
- Operate in a Lead Estimator role, creating estimates of costs, quantities, and scopes for early project and technology development phases on a global scale.
- Ensure comprehensive estimating scope development, with a focus on capturing variances between competing concepts while validating estimates through rigorous checking and benchmarking.
- Formulate the estimating scope, encompassing bulk material quantities, infrastructure, modularization levels, yard locations, manhours, transportation and installation costs, site hours, commissioning, indirect costs, client expenses, and insurance.
- Collaborate with project team members across various design disciplines, including project management, client representatives, and third-party consultants.
- Draft estimate plans, review the scope of work, compile and analyze estimate data, and prepare estimate basis documents detailing qualifications and assumptions.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of a benchmarking database for new project types.
- Engage in estimate reviews and presentations with management, the Study Manager, clients, and project team members.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and expertise within the discipline.
- Develop relevant estimating methodologies and tools for the business segment.
- Ensure the accuracy of the data bank.
- Serve as a liaison between T.EN. Houston and Genesis global cost estimation teams.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Over 7 years of experience in refining, oil & gas, and petrochemical estimating processes and procedures.
- Strong understanding of estimating principles, management, and project reporting.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in PreFEED/FEED/EPC estimating practices and methodologies.
- Familiarity with development engineering, project management, and construction management concepts.

- Proficient in developing conceptual estimates of material quantities, manhours, bottom-up OPEX (including site and office staffing), logistics, utilities, infrastructure scope, bottom-up CAPEX, DEVEX, abandonment costs, and client costs for global locations.

- Awareness of construction and installation methods to generate detailed procurement and construction costs.

- Ability to estimate site and office staffing needs, TAR costs, IMR costs, logistics, chemical and consumable usage, utility loads and costs, and indirect OPEX costs.

- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, with skills in data management.

- Knowledge of Visual Basic for Excel macro programming is preferred.

- In-depth understanding of Aspen Capital Cost Estimator is essential.
