POSITION SUMMARY: The Behavioral Support Program Coordinator engages in specialized activities aimed at developing, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of behavioral support for individuals with developmental disabilities. This role emphasizes enhancing the quality of life for those served by Miami County. The Coordinator will achieve these objectives through collaboration with individuals, teams, support personnel, and their families. The employee operates with a significant degree of autonomy, receiving general and professional guidance from the Behavior Support Coordination Manager and the Quality and Innovations Director.

As a representative of the Miami County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the incumbent is expected to adhere to all Board policies, demonstrating respect for and supporting the dignity and rights of all individuals served. Sensitivity to diverse beliefs, cultures, values, and family structures is essential.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess a valid license from the Ohio Board of Psychology, or a valid license from the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Board, or a valid physician license from the State Medical Board of Ohio. A bachelor's or graduate degree from an accredited institution is also required. Applicants should have a minimum of three (3) years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience in developing and implementing behavior support and/or risk reduction strategies. The ability to obtain Service & Support Administration certification from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities within 90 days of employment is necessary. Candidates must maintain their registration or certification and adhere to a Person-Centered Philosophy. A satisfactory criminal background check, Abuser Registry checks, and drug testing are mandatory. A valid State of Ohio driver's license with fewer than five (5) violations is required. Strong oral and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and adherence to the Code of Conduct are essential.RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and assess behavioral evaluations in collaboration with individuals and their support teams.
  • Design and implement both positive and restrictive strategies based on input from individuals and teams, in compliance with regulations.
  • Train designated provider staff on the appropriate methods for implementing restrictive strategies prior to their application.
  • Review documentation from providers to ensure proper execution and adherence to restrictive strategies.
  • Provide individualized support to children and adults on various topics, including grief, parenting techniques, coping strategies, crisis intervention, reproductive education, and social skills.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver specific intervention training and guidance to families and staff working with individuals across diverse settings.
  • Assist team members in training and support regarding crisis prevention and intervention tailored to individual needs.
  • Monitor the implementation of positive and restrictive strategies through observations and interviews with individuals and staff.
  • Contribute necessary information and documentation for Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and participate in annual and revision ISP meetings.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, with flexibility based on operational needs.

COMPENSATION: $23.67 per hour, dependent on qualifications.
