Position Overview:

AIMS Locum Tenens LLC is in search of a dedicated Dietitian to deliver specialized nutritional care and guidance to pediatric patients at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP). This role involves acting as a key communicator between the Nutrition Management Department and young patients, assessing their nutritional requirements, formulating personalized dietary plans, and providing expert advice to the healthcare team. Additionally, the Dietitian will engage in educational initiatives, research projects, and clinical studies aimed at enhancing pediatric nutritional practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Privileges: Deliver services in accordance with the clinical privileges authorized by the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) Director.
  • Contractual Duties: Execute responsibilities as outlined in the basic contract.
  • Patient Liaison: Facilitate communication between the Nutrition Management Department and pediatric patients to ensure optimal care coordination.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain necessary records, reports, and statistics in compliance with MTF standard operating procedures.
  • Nutritional Evaluation: Gather and analyze relevant nutritional data, including medication, clinical symptoms, lab results, and dietary history for pediatric patients.
  • Dietary Assessment: Calculate nutrient and energy intake values and assist in evaluating dietary history data.
  • Pediatric Nutrition Counseling: Provide specialized dietary guidance for pediatric patients with specific nutritional management needs.
  • Education and Training: Educate medical residents, interns, and allied health professionals on pediatric nutritional management.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams, working alongside physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Care Planning: Review medical records and collaborate with team members to implement nutritional care aligned with overall treatment strategies.
  • Patient Compliance: Develop innovative strategies to promote adherence to dietary plans.
  • Dietary Documentation: Accurately document nutritional assessments and counseling sessions in patient medical records.
  • Research Engagement: Participate in applied nutritional research and clinical studies, contributing to data collection and publication efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Dietetics or Nutrition from an accredited institution.
  • Certification: Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Experience: At least two years of experience in pediatric nutrition, preferably in an outpatient environment.
  • Licensure: Active and unrestricted license to practice dietetics in any U.S. state or territory.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of pediatric nutrition.
  • Strong ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective patient counseling.
  • Competence in assessing and adjusting dietary plans to meet complex nutritional needs.
