Position Overview
The Senior Buyer for E-Commerce will spearhead the purchasing strategy across all categories for the organization’s online platform. This role is pivotal in driving growth through effective management of buying and inventory across various product lines.
The Senior Buyer will also work closely with product development, marketing, and merchandising teams to create engaging seasonal narratives that enhance the brand and help the company achieve its financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively manage the business by crafting and implementing seasonal buying strategies, open-to-buy plans, and promotional initiatives across all categories.
- Collaborate with the Planning team to ensure effective inventory management.
- Supervise bulk management for the direct-to-consumer (DTC) segment.
- Analyze sales data and prepare reports to facilitate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and seasonal meetings aimed at identifying assortment opportunities.
- Partner with the Planning team to conduct regular reviews with senior management to support recommendations for seasonal product investments.- Communicate the product needs of the online business to product management consistently.
- Work cross-functionally to strategize and execute seasonal marketing initiatives based on key brand narratives, seasonality, forecasts, sales trends, and available inventory.
- Articulate category and purchasing strategies to cross-functional and category business partners. Responsible for exclusive online purchases.- Develop best practices and establish processes to manage planning and inventory suitable for a new and expanding business.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on experience and analysis to drive business growth.
- Conduct relevant trend and competitive research and present findings to the team.
- Oversee 1-2 buyers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Retail Merchandising, or equivalent experience.
- 7-10 years of experience in e-commerce purchasing.
- Strong skills in managing DTC product pipelines from concept to markdown.
- Proven managerial and leadership experience, particularly in talent development.
- Ability to identify challenges and develop solutions for process enhancement.
- Capacity to thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing substantial workloads independently.
Skills Required:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel capabilities.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
- High proficiency in retail mathematics.
- Excellent communication skills.
