Position Summary:

Under the guidance of the Assistant Branch Manager, you will engage in a variety of member service tasks to ensure the continuous effectiveness of member support in alignment with established Credit Union policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Your role will involve:

  1. Representing the credit union to members in a polite and professional manner, ensuring prompt, efficient, and accurate service in addressing members' needs.
  2. Fostering a positive work atmosphere and enhancing the SMCU image through respectful and effective communication and teamwork with colleagues and members.
  3. Meeting or exceeding designated sales and service objectives.
  4. Delivering an outstanding member experience by actively listening to and assessing member needs, providing tailored solutions, and promoting relevant products.
  5. Assisting members with the opening of savings and checking accounts, certificates of deposit, IRAs, bonds, debit cards, wire transfers, and more. Handling a diverse range of transactions, processing necessary documentation, and maintaining member account information accurately.
  6. Staying informed about compliance standards and procedures.
  7. Conducting interviews and completing loan applications for consumer loans for Credit Union members, ensuring proper closure of approved loans.
  8. Stepping in as a teller when required.
  9. Keeping abreast of various products and services through ongoing training sessions.
  10. Contributing to our community by volunteering time with local civic and charitable organizations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Carrying out related member service tasks as assigned or requested.

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent, complemented by specialized coursework in retail services. A minimum of one year of experience in a teller or customer service role is preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, along with attention to detail and proficiency in using various office equipment, including computer terminals.

While performing this role, individuals will need to use their hands for handling objects and controls, reach with arms, and communicate verbally. Frequent standing, walking, and sitting are required, along with occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to fifteen pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
