Position Overview: NextGen Federal Systems is in search of a GSIF Systems Administrator to oversee IT operations for a military client.

Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the security and functionality of all IT systems utilized by end-users in laboratory environments.
  • Manage systems primarily based on Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Implement approved software updates and resolve network connectivity challenges.
  • Support Information Assurance (IA) assessments and apply necessary patches that cannot be automated, ensuring compliance with IA standards.
  • Secure laboratory systems in accordance with lab authorization requirements.
  • Oversee the security of standalone operating systems.
  • Ensure the security of Program of Record systems.
  • Manage the security of Closed Restricted Network (CRN) systems that are not connected to the C5ISR managed CRN.
  • Verify the operational status of laboratory systems post-security measures and communicate any requests for waivers or exemptions as needed.
  • Utilize approved images for system imaging.
  • Execute authorized Operating System (OS) configuration modifications.
  • Facilitate password resets and account unlocks for locally managed systems.
  • Handle account creation for locally managed systems.
  • Perform additional tasks as necessary to ensure the seamless operation of IT systems within the GSIF laboratory.
  • Ensure compliance with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG).
  • Create and maintain network diagrams.
  • Monitor patch compliance.
  • Review systems requiring exemptions or waivers.
  • Automate recurring processes for locally managed systems through scripting.
  • Establish and verify information security and data backup protocols.
  • Implement and supervise controls for the use of removable media devices in accordance with draft policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • IAT Level 2 certification is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Detail-oriented with strong technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • System administrators must hold Technical Level II (IAT-II) designation and complete all mandated DoD training.
  • Linux + certification is necessary.
  • Familiarity with the Distributed Common Ground System – Army (DCGS-A) is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of PM Mission Command systems is preferred.
  • Experience with AWS environment implementation is a plus.
  • ACTIVE CLEARANCE LEVEL REQUIRED: Top Secret with the ability to obtain SCI eligibility.
