Position Overview:

The Council on Foreign Relations is seeking an Event Planning Specialist to join our dynamic Event Operations team. This role is essential in ensuring the seamless execution of various events, both in-person and virtual, at our state-of-the-art conference center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and management of logistics for events hosted by CFR and external rentals.
  • Collaborate with event stakeholders, including facilities and audio-visual teams, to manage timelines, menu selections, room arrangements, and technical requirements.
  • Facilitate virtual events by coordinating audio-visual logistics, ensuring all details are meticulously captured, and managing the event from inception to conclusion.
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Event Management team on various projects, including event scheduling, catering arrangements, and client interactions.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and positive demeanor when interacting with staff, vendors, and guests.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in hospitality, event management, communications, or marketing is preferred, though not mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in corporate hotel/banquet, catering, or event management is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional customer service, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and during adverse weather conditions, as this role is classified as essential personnel.
  • Capability to lift equipment and furniture as needed.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is between $55,000 and $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience and educational background.
