Compensation: $34.71 Hourly

Note: The starting salary for this role is set at the minimum of the indicated pay range. A higher salary may be offered based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate, in accordance with the City's step placement policy.

Employee Preference: Full-time City employees will be prioritized in the following order: major division, then department, followed by all other full-time City employees. Job Summary:

This position is situated within the Building Management Division of the General Services Department and operates under the guidance of a direct supervisor. An eligibility list will be created for future vacancies, including those in other departments, as per the AFSCME collective bargaining agreement. Candidates must possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary for the operation, maintenance, inspection, cleaning, and adjustment of various air handling and heating systems prior to starting the role. Key responsibilities include: inspecting, servicing, and maintaining hot water boilers, air conditioning, and ventilation systems; completing work orders, safety reports, inspection sheets, and other relevant documentation daily; and ensuring the upkeep of building facilities. The role involves limited supervision, and the individual must take responsibility for their work. Frequent interaction with City personnel and the public is expected to address inquiries regarding ongoing work or to direct individuals to the appropriate departmental staff.

Veterans Preference:

Honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed Forces, including National Guard and Reserve Forces, who are not currently employed full-time by the City and meet the qualifications for the position will receive preference. To qualify for this preference, veterans must provide verification of honorable discharge prior to the closing date of the vacancy announcement.

Job Requirements:

  • Understanding of air conditioning and heating system operations; familiarity with Building Automation Systems.
  • Proficiency in the safe use of electrical tools and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain heating and cooling systems effectively.

  • Possession of a valid State of Oklahoma Class IV Boiler Operator License.
  • Possession of a valid Driver License (Operator).

Note: Selected individuals who do not hold a valid State of Oklahoma Class IV Boiler Operator License will be required to obtain this license within six months of hire or promotion. Continued employment is contingent upon obtaining the license within this timeframe.

  • Subject to emergency call-outs, including weekends and holidays.
  • Frequent travel within the local area for repairs and parts procurement.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Flexibility to perform maintenance tasks in various positions.
  • Manual dexterity for intricate repair tasks.
  • Visual acuity for reading diagrams and performing detailed work.
  • Good hearing to identify equipment malfunctions.

Other Details:

An eligibility list will be created from this posting, consisting of applicants who achieve a score of 70 percent or higher. Multiple selection procedures may be utilized, and a minimum score of 70 percent will be required for each procedure. The eligibility list will remain valid for 180 days from the date of the final selection procedure.
