The OKC Innovation District is seeking a dedicated Facilities Technician to maintain and optimize the functionality of building and equipment systems. This role is essential for ensuring seamless operations that align with the District's event programming and the mission of the biomanufacturing training center.

The Innovation District is a dynamic ecosystem promoting collaboration and economic growth, encompassing a variety of sectors including healthcare, bioscience, and technology. It serves as a hub for innovation, connecting scientists, researchers, and industry experts to foster new ideas and business opportunities.

BioTC Oklahoma is a premier training facility for the biopharmaceutical manufacturing sector, aiming to enhance domestic production capabilities and support regional economic development. This center provides access to advanced equipment and training necessary for developing a skilled workforce.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree in electro-mechanical technology, instrumentation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Over 2 years of experience in maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical systems and laboratory or manufacturing equipment, including:
  • Proficiency in monitoring and resolving issues with facility infrastructure such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and compressed air systems.
  • Experience with specialized bioprocessing and laboratory equipment including bioreactors, chromatography systems, and autoclaves.
  • Familiarity with the setup and initial qualification of laboratory and manufacturing equipment is preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Facilities Technician will oversee the operation and maintenance of Innovation Hall, ensuring that all systems and equipment function effectively to support the District's initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Daily monitoring of building operational systems.
  • Leading installation and qualification efforts for new laboratory equipment.
  • Creating maintenance manuals and procedures for equipment.
  • Establishing an asset tagging system for inventory management of critical lab assets.
  • Coordinating maintenance schedules and necessary repairs.
  • Implementing a preventative maintenance program and troubleshooting issues.
  • Repairing equipment and collaborating with vendors for external repairs.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety practices during maintenance activities.
  • Maintaining an inventory of spare parts and addressing urgent repair requests.
  • Developing safety protocols to meet regulatory standards.
  • Participating in meetings regarding program scheduling and assisting with event setups as needed.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hands-on skills for maintenance and repairs, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and capability to interpret schematics and technical documents.
  • Proficiency in general computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on constructive feedback.
  • Willingness to assist team members in supporting events and programming.
  • Flexibility to undertake additional duties and special projects as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Willingness to stand for extended periods as necessary.

HOURS, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • This is a full-time position requiring 40+ hours per week, with potential for occasional evenings or weekends.
  • Compensation ranges from $70,000 to $80,000, commensurate with experience.
