Job Summary

This position is located in the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Southern Regional Research Center in New Orleans, LA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Human Resources Specialists in facilitating personnel actions, including employee development, staffing and classification, and employee relations.
  • Perform training and employee development activities, including identifying training needs, designing courses, and determining learning objectives.
  • Prepare vacancy announcements by modifying and updating standardized portions of previous announcements.
  • Answer basic questions about personnel actions or pay.
  • Maintain files, logs, and tracking systems.
Requirements

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience, and/or education.

Time-in-grade restrictions apply for all candidates considered under merit promotion procedures and must be met by 11:59 pm Eastern Time on the closing date of this vacancy announcement.

Specialized Experience

Qualifying experience for GS-05 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-04, which is directly related to the work of this position and has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

For this position, specialized experience is experience assisting with tracking, preparing, or reviewing HR documents, responding to emails or phone calls, and using databases or automated systems to prepare documents or generate reports.

Education

Successful completion of 4 years above high school is required. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

A combination of specialized experience and education as described above is also acceptable.

Additional Information

This position may be eligible to telework up to four days per week, based upon the duties of the position.

This position may also be eligible for flexible work arrangements as determined by agency policy and any applicable collective bargaining agreements.
