Job Summary

As a Patient Access Representative - Physician Practice at Memorial Hermann Health System, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our physician practice. Your primary responsibility will be to schedule patient appointments, verify insurance eligibility, and collect patient liability in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scheduling Patient Appointments: Schedule patient appointments and enter required information in our computer system with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Insurance Verification: Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, and ensure all notifications and authorizations are completed within the required timeframes.
  • Financial Integrity: Protect the financial integrity of our facility by collecting patient liability, establishing payment arrangements, discussing payment options, and screening for eligibility.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively and professionally with physicians, ancillary departments, nursing units, physicians' office staff, insurance companies, patients, and their families.
  • Documentation: Complete thorough and accurate documentation of patient interactions and account information.
  • Quality and Safety: Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors, and adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Professional Growth: Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, and supporting department-based goals.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience: Two (2) years of experience in a hospital or customer service setting
  • Skills: Ability to multi-task, proficient typing/keyboarding skills
