Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Director of Commercial Finance, the Commercial Finance Manager plays a pivotal role within the Amcor Rigid Packaging North America division. This role encompasses overseeing all Commercial Finance functions across various business segments and collaborating with Commercial Directors. Engaging with senior leadership throughout the organization, this position partners with the commercial team to enhance profitability, drive revenue growth, and safeguard market value. Key responsibilities include:
  • Delivering financial leadership, analysis, and expert advice on: 1) pricing strategies for new and existing products, 2) contract management, 3) capital investment evaluations, 4) profitability assessments for customers and product lines, 5) category analysis for new and existing segments, and 6) identification of forward-looking opportunities.
  • Leading financial analysis and support for strategic initiatives within the segment.
  • Identifying profit 'leakages' and opportunities to improve overall profitability.
This role is responsible for driving enhancements across the P&L for various business segments and key accounts. The Commercial Finance Manager is expected to build relationships, operate independently, act as a thought leader, and deliver results.

Essential Responsibilities:

Commercial Support:
  • Collaborate with the ARPNA Commercial Team on: 1) contract evaluations, 2) profitability assessments for products, plants, and customers, 3) targeted pricing initiatives, 4) profit leakage analysis, 5) pricing strategies, 6) operational complexity assessments, 7) financial analysis for Key Account Teams, and 8) market risk evaluations.
  • Actively participate in Segment and Customer Account Teams, contributing to value propositions, contract development and negotiations, profitability improvement actions, proactive account planning, supply options, and capital expenditure justifications.
  • Engage in the ARPNA Business Development Review (BDR) and Request for Quote (RFQ) processes.
  • Develop comprehensive margin analyses for existing products and new opportunities.
  • Assist in formulating and implementing standard contract clauses to mitigate profitability erosion.
  • Draft Capital Expense Approval Voucher (CEAV) requests.
  • Oversee pricing and proposal development using ARPNA pricing systems and market analysis.
  • Identify and quantify commercial outperformance initiatives.
  • Utilize available tools for opportunity analysis and profitability improvement.
  • Provide financial leadership for various strategic projects.
Business Unit Support:
  • Assist Commercial Directors with competitive intelligence, value preservation strategies, disruptive technology assessments, and cost analysis for new products and processes.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes to understand equipment capabilities and capital investment analysis.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on new product development and innovation projects.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Conduct profitability analyses by plant, technology, or customer.
  • Develop complex financial models with user-friendly interfaces.
  • Drive continuous process improvements to enhance efficiency without compromising accuracy.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance required; MBA preferred.
  • 8 years of progressively responsible experience in financial analysis, preferably in commercial finance.
  • Advanced Excel skills are essential; proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is required.
  • Strong aptitude for systems (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ERP software).
  • Demonstrated thought leadership and critical thinking abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to communicate findings effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Experience in problem-solving, analytics, and a general understanding of manufacturing operations is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Specific experience in developing detailed financial modeling scenarios and analyzing product-line profitability is strongly preferred.
