Position Overview

St. Mary's Bank (SMB) is seeking a highly qualified Chief Financial Officer (CFO) & Treasurer. As the Nation's First Credit Union, SMB is a respected financial institution with a commitment to the credit union philosophy of "people helping people." The CFO & Treasurer will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/President and will be instrumental in shaping the strategic vision for Accounting, Finance, and Facilities. This role encompasses the management of SMB's asset/liability framework, liquidity, and investment strategies. The CFO will ensure timely and accurate internal and state financial reporting, oversee the annual budgeting process, conduct peer group analysis, and manage expense control and profitability models.

As a key member of the executive and senior management teams, the CFO will provide visionary leadership and collaborate closely with the CEO/President and Board of Directors to implement financial strategies that align with SMB's overall business objectives.

Key Qualifications

  • A CPA and/or master's degree is highly preferred, alongside a minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and over 10 years of extensive financial management experience. Previous experience in a credit union or financial institution is advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and familiarity with laws and regulations governing Accounting and Finance functions.
  • Proven ability to foster teamwork and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the capacity to motivate teams and communicate effectively at all organizational levels, both in writing and verbally.
  • Must embody a positive and professional demeanor, representing the credit union with integrity while engaging with the Board of Directors and Senior Management.
  • Experience in market analysis, profitability assessments, and financial forecasting, complemented by strong analytical, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for credit union-related responsibilities.
