Your Role and Responsibilities

As a manager of Infrastructure Solution Architects, you will oversee a team of 10-14 Solution Architects focused on presales scoping for service contracts.

Managers in this role address escalations from sales teams and prioritize tasks for the Solution Architects. IBM managers are accountable for implementing all necessary Human Resource policies and processes for their direct reports.


You will collaborate closely with clients and sales personnel to devise solutions that align with the client's business objectives and recognized best practices for technology and industry standards.

In this dynamic position, you will design and develop a work breakdown structure leading to preliminary estimates, pricing, and statements of work.

A successful Solution Architect will exhibit a natural inclination towards self-motivation, adeptly navigating data and interpersonal dynamics to discover answers and propose solutions that guarantee world-class delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Your typical day may include, but is not limited to:

  • Comprehensive Technical Guidance: Offering expert technical guidance to facilitate discovery discussions with potential clients, evaluating architectural requirements for projects, and collaborating with technical leads and sales teams to formulate proposals.
  • Achieving Optimal Architectural Solutions: Leading client workshops; influencing stakeholders at all levels to identify the best architectural solutions that align with business and technology strategies, translating them into actionable roadmaps with clear execution directions to ensure business value and return on investment.
  • Overseeing Solution Review Boards: Developing and contributing to solution review boards for proposals, including oversight for technology assurance, quality, and risk assessment.
  • Fostering Strong Relationships: Establishing and nurturing personal relationships at all levels—from engineers to CIOs—while effectively navigating challenging discussions to achieve constructive resolutions.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Technical experience with IBM Systems or Cloud products.
  • Prior management experience.
  • Experience in service sales.
  • Experience in service delivery.
  • Experience in project management for services.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Cloud Technology Proficiency: Experience with a wide range of Cloud technology solutions.
  • Cloud Consulting Background: Experience in consulting solutions including SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, and/or Cloud.
  • Cloud Software Knowledge: In-depth expertise in cloud software technologies, including IBM Cloud Platform, VMWare, NSX-T, PowerVS, Red Hat OpenShift, high-performance computing, DevSecOps, site reliability engineering, IBM Retain Insights, and AEM on IBM Cloud.
