Overview

Frontier Technology is in search of a Lead Cloud Solutions Architect to support the United States Space Force (USSF) Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) for the Digital Bloodhound initiative.

The ideal candidate will be a distinguished leader and innovative thinker, capable of achieving exceptional outcomes as part of a high-performing team in a dynamic and prominent setting.

This role will involve providing direct cloud architecture and engineering assistance to the USSF/SSC's SZYO/Defense Cyber Operations-Space (DCO-S) organization, facilitating data-driven decisions swiftly, and enhancing the Service's adaptability and efficiency in delivering cybersecurity solutions to safeguard the USSF's Operational Enterprise.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a strategic outlook, outstanding communication abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

Key Duties Include:

  • Examine, assess, recommend, and ultimately design and construct new hybrid cloud environments for DCO-S cloud projects, ensuring that vital applications are architected and optimized for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Integrate capabilities and models into the newly established cloud environment.
  • Define requirements for the DCO-S throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including the integration, enhancement, and maintenance of the hybrid cloud environment.
  • Support decisions with research and articulate options, advantages, and disadvantages for each recommendation.
  • Develop architectural solutions and assess architectural alternatives for hybrid cloud models, encompassing IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud services.
  • Guide the transition of legacy systems to a contemporary cloud platform solution and assist with its integration into the DCO-S framework.
  • Design enterprise and systems security throughout the cloud development lifecycle; translate technological and environmental conditions into security designs and protocols.
  • Establish and develop security requirements that mitigate risks while sustaining a cybersecurity operational capability across the USSF enterprise.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of, stay informed about, and research industry best practices, trends, and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact on DCO-S software development strategies and possible implementation.
  • Verify architecture against DCO-S program requirements and objectives, participating in technical discussions, trade studies, and working groups.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, UX/UI designers, and quality assurance, to define and deliver software solutions that meet DCO-S requirements and customer needs.
  • Engage with USSF Test Enterprise leadership, training, and program managers to communicate security objectives and mitigations concerning their priorities of cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Provide regular updates, reports, and presentations on DCO-S software development progress, achievements, and challenges to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Establish and enforce quality assurance protocols to ensure the delivery of reliable, secure, and regulation-compliant software solutions.
  • Promote process automation to minimize manual steps and enhance the reusability of solutions.
  • Utilize cloud services and technologies to architect and develop scalable and dependable software solutions.
Education/Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active Top Secret clearance with SCI and SAP eligibility.
  • Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information.
  • Willingness to undergo a Counterintelligence polygraph.
  • Required - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related STEM or engineering discipline. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 14 years of relevant technical architecture and team leadership experience in designing large and complex IT operations in substantial organizations or a research environment for government and/or private industry.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of cloud architecture and implementation features (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability).
  • Experience in developing briefings and presenting analytical results to high-level stakeholders to assist in their decision-making processes.
  • Ability to assume a leadership role during system requirements reviews, design reviews, and other technical meetings.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of DevOps tool chains and processes.
  • Experience with Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, NiFi, Spark, PySpark, Dask, etc.).
  • Experience in application migration.
  • Agile development experience.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working on-site in a government client environment.
  • Familiarity with security protocols while operating in a SCIF/SAPF environment.
  • Cloud Security Implementation experience.
  • Experience with DoD Acquisition Lifecycle and/or Rapid Acquisition / Rapid Delivery.
  • Familiarity with security protocols while operating in a SCIF/SAPF environment.
  • Certifications such as Azure Solutions, Google Professional Cloud, AWS Certified Solutions, and/or Red Hat Certified Architect are advantageous.

For this role, the compensation range for candidates in Colorado is ($140K- $190K). Starting pay will be based on various factors and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Frontier Technology has a location-based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
