Your Role and Responsibilities

As a manager of Infrastructure Solution Architects, you will oversee a team of 10-14 Solution Architects focused on presales scoping for service contracts.

You will manage escalations from sales teams and prioritize tasks for the Solution Architects. IBM managers are accountable for implementing all necessary Human Resource policies and processes for their direct reports.


In this dynamic role, you will collaborate closely with clients and sales teams to design solutions that align with the client's business objectives and established best practices within the technology and industry.

In this fast-paced environment, you will create and structure work breakdowns leading to preliminary estimates, pricing, and statements of work.

A successful Solution Architect will exhibit a natural inclination towards self-motivation, adeptly navigating data and interpersonal dynamics to identify solutions that guarantee top-tier delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Your daily activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Comprehensive Technical Guidance: Offering expert technical guidance to facilitate discovery discussions with potential clients, evaluating architectural requirements for projects, and collaborating with technical leads and sales teams to develop proposals.
  • Achieving Optimal Architectural Solutions: Leading client workshops; influencing stakeholders at all levels to derive the best architectural solutions that align with business and technology strategies, translating them into actionable roadmaps with clear execution directions to ensure business value and ROI.
  • Overseeing Solution Review Boards: Contributing to and managing solution review boards for proposals, ensuring technology assurance, quality, and risk assessment.
  • Fostering Strong Relationships: Building and maintaining relationships at all levels—from engineers to CIOs—while effectively navigating challenging discussions to reach constructive resolutions.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Technical experience with IBM Systems or Cloud products.
  • Prior management experience.
  • Experience in service sales.
  • Experience in service delivery.
  • Experience in project management for services.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Cloud Technology Knowledge: Familiarity with a wide range of Cloud technology solutions.
  • Consulting Experience in Cloud: Background in consulting solutions including SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, and/or Cloud.
  • Expertise in Cloud Software: In-depth knowledge of cloud software technologies such as IBM Cloud Platform, VMWare, NSX-T, PowerVS, Red Hat OpenShift, high-performance computing, DevSecOps, site reliability engineering, IBM Retain Insights, and AEM on IBM Cloud.
