The Clinical Laboratory Section Assistant Supervisor is crucial in maintaining the operational excellence of our laboratory. You will oversee daily functions, uphold stringent quality control standards, and empower your team to provide outstanding patient care.

Key Highlights

  • Manage all laboratory operations to ensure superior testing and compliance with regulations.
  • Act as the Section Supervisor in their absence.
  • Lead by example, providing guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Engage in committees, projects, and initiatives aimed at quality enhancement.
  • Ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Adhere to hospital and regulatory standards for quality patient care.
  • Ensure staff compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Oversee employee training, competency assessments, and educational initiatives.
  • Promote a positive and professional workplace culture.
  • Direct and supervise laboratory testing processes.
  • Conduct bench testing and assist colleagues as necessary.
  • Train staff on specialized testing and quality assurance protocols.
  • Monitor test turnaround times.
  • Actively contribute to the development and implementation of efficient laboratory software.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and collaborate with vendors.
  • Maintain an adequately stocked laboratory with essential supplies.
  • Participate in the hiring process and evaluate staff performance.
  • Attend educational programs to remain current in the field.
  • Facilitate effective communication with colleagues and other departments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Technology or a related scientific discipline.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience in a hospital laboratory setting (preferred).
  • ASCP or NCA certification (preferred).
  • Current NYS License or eligibility for licensure.
