The Clinical Laboratory Section Assistant Supervisor is integral to the seamless operation of our laboratory. This role involves supervising daily functions, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and empowering your team to provide outstanding patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all laboratory activities to guarantee superior testing and adherence to regulations.
  • Act as the Section Supervisor in their absence.
  • Lead by example, providing guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Engage in committees, projects, and initiatives aimed at quality enhancement.
  • Ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

Essential Duties

  • Maintain compliance with hospital and regulatory standards for patient care.
  • Ensure staff compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Oversee training, competency assessments, and educational opportunities for staff.
  • Promote a positive and professional workplace culture.
  • Direct and supervise laboratory testing protocols.
  • Conduct bench testing and provide assistance to colleagues as necessary.
  • Educate staff on specialized testing and quality assurance procedures.
  • Monitor test turnaround times to ensure efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of effective laboratory software.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and liaise with vendors for support.
  • Ensure the laboratory is adequately stocked with essential supplies.
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and performance evaluation of staff.
  • Engage in continuing education to remain updated in the field.
  • Facilitate effective communication with colleagues and other departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Technology or a related scientific discipline.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience in a hospital laboratory setting (preferred).
  • ASCP or NCA certification (preferred).
  • Current NYS License or eligibility for licensure.
