POSITION SUMMARY

The Transportation Coordinator is accountable for ensuring prompt and friendly transportation services for residents, facilitating their travel to various events while maintaining high-quality service standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees driver staffing and scheduling for the community.
  • Maintains communication with drivers throughout the day, providing guidance on the schedule.
  • Conducts routine inspections of all transportation vehicles to guarantee safety and cleanliness.
  • Collaborates with management to assess the daily performance of drivers.
  • Operates vehicles to transport residents according to the assigned itinerary.
  • Assists passengers with mobility challenges in entering and exiting vehicles.
  • Secures wheelchairs using appropriate restraining devices to ensure stability during transit.
  • Utilizes communication devices to report any service disruptions effectively.
  • Ensures all community vehicles are kept in optimal working condition.
  • Performs routine maintenance tasks such as fueling and servicing vehicles.
  • Assists with the vehicle registration and licensing renewal processes.
  • Documents vehicle conditions on a monthly basis and after each trip.
  • Adheres to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Provides additional pick-up and delivery services as required.
  • Completes other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record in compliance with Federal DOT regulations.
  • Experience in a customer service role, preferably within a senior living environment.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Language Skills:
    • Ability to communicate effectively in the primary language of the residents.
    • Capable of reading and interpreting safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
    • Interacts courteously with residents, guests, and staff.
    • Responds promptly to resident requests.
    • Supports the organization's mission and values.
    • Balances individual and team responsibilities.
    • Knowledgeable about safety protocols and compliance measures.
    • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
    • Skilled in operating a chair lift and securing wheelchairs and scooters.
    • Capable of working independently without direct supervision.
    • Demonstrates sound judgment and decision-making in the best interest of residents.
    • Proficient in organization and time management, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Familiar with local traffic patterns to estimate travel times and plan efficient routes.

While fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, the Team Member is regularly required to use hands for handling, reaching, and communicating. The Team Member frequently sits, stoops, kneels, and crouches. Occasionally, the Team Member may stand, walk, climb, or balance. The Team Member must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
