Position: Patient Service Representative

Grand River Medical Group is on the lookout for a dedicated Patient Service Representative to join our dynamic team. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth clerical operations within our practice.

The successful candidate will be responsible for various administrative tasks, including welcoming patients for their appointments, managing appointment schedules, confirming patient details and insurance information, and handling incoming calls.

We seek an individual who is committed to delivering exceptional customer service while fostering a warm and inviting atmosphere. Reliability and adaptability in scheduling are crucial. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced setting, possess excellent organizational abilities, and demonstrate self-motivation, with the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.

As a Patient Service Representative, proficiency in using office technology such as computers, telephones, and fax machines is required. Familiarity with patient scheduling systems and electronic medical records will be beneficial.

This role requires 30-34 hours per week with no evening or weekend shifts. Typical working hours are between 6:30 AM and 5:00 PM, four days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients upon arrival for their appointments.
  • Assist patients in completing insurance and privacy documentation.
  • Manage scheduling and confirmation of patient appointments, including cancellations and follow-ups.
  • Respond to phone inquiries regarding insurance and payments, directing calls to the appropriate personnel.
  • Review and update patient information to ensure accurate billing and maintain demographic records.
  • Coordinate appointment scheduling and ensure all procedures are accurately entered into the system.
  • Perform essential clerical tasks to support the daily functions of the practice.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Friendly, empathetic, and responsible demeanor.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Experience in a similar role for three months to one year, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in using office equipment, including computers, telephones, and fax machines.
  • Understanding of patient scheduling systems and electronic medical records.
