Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Program and Project Supervisor, the Senior Utilities Engineer (Supervisor) is responsible for planning, assigning, coordinating, and directing the work and activities of a small group of engineers and other professional staff in development and enforcement of the Commission's safety regulations for electric generation, distribution, and transmission facilities, distributed energy resources, and communication infrastructure contained in General Orders (GO) 167-B, Public Utilities (PU) Code, and other applicable codes and standards.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, assign, coordinate, and direct the work and activities of a small group of engineers and other professional staff.
  • Develop and enforce the Commission's safety regulations for electric generation, distribution, and transmission facilities, distributed energy resources, and communication infrastructure.
  • Conduct technical investigations of complex issues involving electric generation facilities and energy storage systems.
  • Provide expertise on the Commission's General Orders and Public Utilities Code related to electric generating facilities.
Requirements
  • Valid California Drivers License (CDL) and Professional Engineer License.
  • Ability to conduct technical investigations and provide expertise on complex issues.
  • Knowledge of the Commission's General Orders and Public Utilities Code.
Working Conditions

This position requires travel and may be eligible for telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California.
