Senior Vice President of Educational Affordability

Position Overview
Strada Education Foundation is in search of a seasoned and strategic executive to lead our mission in enhancing the affordability of postsecondary education at the institutional level. As the Vice President of Institutional Affordability Initiatives (VP-IAI), you will take charge of formulating and implementing strategies that empower institutions to address the financial requirements of students from varied socioeconomic backgrounds. Your proficiency in institutional financial aid, enrollment management, and fiscal decision-making will be vital in propelling initiatives that promote affordability and foster student achievement.
Reporting Structure
In this role, you will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Affordability (SVP) and will be a pivotal member of the Postsecondary Education (PSE) team, collaborating to realize Strada's ambitious objectives. Our strategic framework, anchored by a visionary North Star, is committed to cultivating an education and training ecosystem that provides equitable pathways to opportunity for all learners. As VP-IAI, you will be crucial in advancing our Affordability strategic pillar, ensuring that institutions can effectively meet the financial needs of students, thereby enhancing their routes to success, including employment, economic mobility, and fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Initiative Development (20%)
- Formulate, prioritize, and implement strategic initiatives aimed at improving institutional affordability in postsecondary education.
- Maintain expertise in institutional policies, practices, and innovations related to affordability.
- Provide insights and recommendations on institutional affordability matters to Strada's leadership.
- Represent Strada in discussions and forums focused on postsecondary affordability.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of institutional affordability initiatives and programs.
- Develop recommendations for new initiatives and assess existing ones to foster an innovative approach to affordability.
- Partnership Development (30%)
- Collaborate with higher education institutions and stakeholders to advance affordability initiatives.
- Build and manage partnerships with postsecondary institutions, policymakers, and other relevant entities.
- Act as Strada's representative in external contexts, focusing on garnering support for Strada's affordability vision.
- Project Management (30%)
- Coordinate with strategic leaders to understand PSE priorities and establish collaborative approaches.
- Connect the affordability team with initiative working teams across Strada.
- Oversee daily activities and provide evaluation input to leaders of resources dedicated to institutional affordability initiatives.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (20%)
- Support an inclusive workplace culture by engaging in Strada's diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to support policies that attract and retain a diverse workforce.
Qualifications
- Education: Advanced degree in social science, education, public policy, or a related field preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in postsecondary institutions or related areas, collaborating with national and state experts.
- Experience with federal, state, and institutional financial aid and enrollment management programs.
- Proven ability to design and execute institutional affordability strategies.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience managing teams and resources effectively.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $170,000 - $210,000 annually, plus an annual bonus. This range is based on national compensation benchmarks and may vary based on skills, experience, and job-related knowledge.
Travel Requirements
The VP for Institutional Affordability Initiatives should expect nationwide travel (10-15%) for presenting research insights and participating in various initiatives.
