Position Overview: Insight Global is seeking a Technical Manager to lead the Pacific Structures division. This role involves serving as the Engineer of Record for major projects and managing a team of 4 to 8 engineers and detailers. The successful candidate will also play a crucial role in supporting business development initiatives and marketing strategies across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Management: Collaborate with the Technical Director, Business Unit Managers, and Project Managers to assess current and future staffing needs based on technical requirements and budget forecasts. Recommend salary levels for new hires and oversee salary adjustments for existing staff, subject to management approval. Conduct performance evaluations and career planning sessions with direct reports, providing ongoing feedback to enhance performance and professional growth. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Project Oversight: Ensure optimal staff allocation to projects, considering schedules, budgets, and key milestones. Monitor adherence to quality control standards and facilitate compliance audits on ongoing and completed projects. Assist team members in resolving project-related challenges.
  • Technical Leadership: Maintain professional visibility by engaging in industry organizations and encourage team participation. Collaborate with Practice and Technical Directors to develop training programs aimed at fostering technical excellence throughout the organization.
  • Client Relations and Marketing: Engage in business development efforts by nurturing relationships with existing and potential clients.
  • Financial Management: Support project managers in staffing new initiatives and negotiating contracts. Approve purchase requests for capital expenditures as outlined in the Authorization Matrix.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience, including at least three years in project management or supervisory roles.
  • Strong technical and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record in team management and project oversight.
  • Possess business acumen, excellent communication abilities, and the capability to represent the organization effectively to clients and stakeholders.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Management coursework or an MBA is advantageous.
  • Postgraduate degree is a plus.
