Job Title: Teacher: English as a Second Language/Humanities Specialist - New Citizens Center - Secondary

Reports to: Building Coordinator/Principal

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching ESL/Humanities state frameworks and curriculum disciplines at New Citizens Center - Secondary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development and Implementation: Remain up to date on curriculum content, effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction, and monitor students' understanding and adjust instruction when necessary.
  • Classroom Management: Manage classroom environment effectively, make learning goals clear to students, and use appropriate instructional techniques.
  • Student Support: Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement, promote equity and appreciate diversity for all students, and ensure equal educational opportunities for all individuals.
  • Professional Development: Utilize innovative approaches and technologies to enhance student learning and perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Certifications: Massachusetts DESE certification in Dual ESL and ELA licenses for grades 7-12, SEI Endorsement, and BA degree.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Dual ESL, ELA, and History licenses for grades 7-12, experience supporting students with special needs, ability to speak multiple languages, and experience teaching English language learners.

Work Environment: Full-time position, 184 days per year, with an appropriate step on Teacher's Salary Schedule.
