Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Logistics Operations Supervisor is accountable for the preparation of outgoing shipments and the receipt of incoming deliveries. This role involves organizing inventory for efficient retrieval as new orders are processed, monitoring shipment schedules to ensure operational efficiency, and documenting any damages to inventory.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:

This position reports directly to the Director of Maintenance.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:

  • Trains both existing and new personnel.
  • Oversees the daily operations of the shipping and receiving department.
  • Provides timely and constructive feedback on performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to all applicable Federal, Airside MRO, and OSHA regulations.
  • Package and crate sensitive aircraft components.
  • Ensure the accuracy of shipments and related documentation.
  • Receive incoming materials and direct them to the appropriate area or personnel.
  • Exhibit exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.
  • Work independently and without supervision after receiving adequate training.
  • Be familiar with common material handling equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shipping/receiving department and storage yard.
  • Conduct forklift training for employees as needed.
  • Supervise the shipping and receiving department.
  • Provide on-the-job training to assigned employees.
  • Keep an updated inventory of supplies used in the department (e.g., boxes, tape, packing materials).
  • Process product orders, including receiving deliveries and distributing packages within the organization.
  • Maintain the shipping department through regular organization, cleaning, and cataloging of items.
  • Schedule large shipments and coordinate logistics to ensure adequate storage space and staffing for incoming items.
  • Prepare regular shipping and receiving reports for management.
  • Address issues related to shipping or inventory management.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental management systems.
  • Troubleshoot shipping challenges and customer complaints, working towards effective resolutions.
  • Utilize warehouse machinery, including forklifts and pallet jacks, for handling large goods.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to train staff effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven supervisory and leadership capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Integrity and exemplary customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Ability to operate warehouse machinery, including forklifts.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in shipping and receiving or equivalent on-the-job training.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience with UPS/FedEx/DHL online shipping software.
  • HazMat shipping certification or ability to obtain certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand, kneel, and work in awkward positions.
  • Capability to perform tasks on scaffolding or ladders.
  • Must be able to lift and pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and physical strength to operate tools and make adjustments.
  • Visual acuity to inspect equipment and identify defects.
