Position Overview:

The Fleet Maintenance Operations Supervisor will manage the daily vehicle maintenance activities for the assigned shift. This role involves conducting compliance and quality inspections on vehicles and facilities, ensuring adherence to company and contractual standards while overseeing the vehicle maintenance team.

The Fleet Maintenance Operations Supervisor will review daily pre-trip and post-trip reports from operators and ensure the completion of technicians' work orders. This position may also involve assisting with minor vehicle repairs as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, ADA, EPA, State, Federal, and Contract regulations.
  • Plan, assign, and prioritize workloads based on scheduled and unscheduled maintenance needs.
  • Coordinate daily tasks for a small team of vehicle maintenance technicians, ensuring vehicle readiness and quality repairs.
  • Provide comprehensive daily status reports on vehicle conditions, road calls, and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain communication with all stakeholders regarding vehicle status.
  • Conduct weekly preventative maintenance checks on scheduled vehicles.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the shop environment.
  • Promote a culture of safety among all employees.
  • Achieve monthly key performance indicators related to vehicle performance and maintenance quality.
  • Ensure timely completion of all required safety and technical training.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs as required.
  • Review and assign Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) to technicians daily.
  • Oversee the quality of repairs through on-the-spot corrections and post-repair inspections.
  • Collaborate with operations to prioritize fleet availability to meet customer needs.
  • Track and update work order statuses to ensure accurate data and parts usage.
  • Monitor employee and fleet performance metrics, administering disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Assist the facilities department as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of automotive mechanical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience with gasoline and diesel engine repairs.
  • Automotive courses from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience in a maintenance environment.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license.
  • Must provide own tools, including diagnostic and specialty tools as needed.
Working Conditions:
  • This position operates in a professional shop environment.
  • May require occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Local and overnight travel may be necessary.
  • Driving a company vehicle is required (annual Motor Vehicle Record background screening is mandatory).
  • Must pass a DOT physical examination annually.
Physical Requirements:
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting and operating a computer.
  • Requires close visual acuity for computer use.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and comprehend instructions.
  • Involves light lifting and carrying tasks.
  • Regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, radios, and phones.
  • Must be able to navigate both office and shop environments.
  • Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to climb, stoop, crouch, and kneel.
  • Work primarily indoors but may require outdoor tasks.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels in the work environment.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000
