Join Our Team as an Emergency Veterinary Assistant

VCA Animal Hospitals is looking for a dedicated Emergency Veterinary Assistant to enhance our skilled emergency medicine team. We offer both full-time and part-time positions with flexible shifts, including day, evening, and overnight options.

Key Responsibilities:
As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you will:

  • Work independently and collaboratively to ensure effective communication with both staff and clients.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor while providing exceptional service.
  • Utilize proficient telephone and computer skills to manage accurate medical records, including client information and diagnostic reports.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with clients and referring veterinarians.
  • Assist clients during their emergency visits, including follow-ups for discharged patients.
  • Facilitate pharmacy operations by obtaining necessary authorizations and assisting with prescription processes.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of procedures and treatment plans to better assist clients.
  • Support the call distribution center and patient care coordinators to ensure timely processing of client requests.
  • Communicate respectfully and effectively with co-workers at all times.
  • Assist emergency veterinarians in managing patient flow and optimizing staff efficiency.
