The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently seeking applications for the role of Instructor of Veterinary Technology at Foothill College. Key Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Dean of Health Sciences and Horticulture, the primary responsibility of the full-time Veterinary Technology Instructor includes:
- Delivering engaging lectures and hands-on laboratory instruction to veterinary technology students.
- Covering a wide range of subjects, including anatomy, physiology, radiology, nursing skills, anesthesia, surgery, pharmacology, and emergency medicine.
- Utilizing active learning strategies to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Supervising the care and management of program animals, ensuring their well-being and proper handling.
- Participating in curriculum development and evaluation, maintaining office hours, and attending departmental meetings.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree or higher with two years of relevant professional experience, or an associate degree with six years of related experience.
- Graduation from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program.
- A valid California State license as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT).
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least six years of recent clinical experience.
- Demonstrated understanding and respect for diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Working Environment:
The position is primarily conducted in an indoor office environment, requiring physical abilities such as:
- Effective communication skills.
- Visual acuity for reading materials.
- Manual dexterity for performing necessary tasks.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs.
