Veterinary Technology Educator

The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is seeking applications for the role of Instructor of Veterinary Technology at Foothill College. This position is integral to our commitment to student success and equity in education.

Key Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Dean of Health Sciences and Horticulture, the primary responsibility of the Veterinary Technology Instructor is to deliver comprehensive instruction to students in both theoretical and practical settings. This includes:
- Teaching a variety of subjects such as anatomy, physiology, radiology, nursing skills, anesthesia, surgery, and emergency medicine.
- Implementing active learning strategies that cater to a diverse student body.
- Utilizing real-world experiences to enhance classroom learning.
- Overseeing the care and management of program animals, ensuring their well-being and compliance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree or higher with two years of relevant professional experience, or an associate degree with six years of related experience.
- Graduation from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program.
- A valid California State license as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT).
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least six years of recent in-clinic experience.
- Demonstrated understanding and respect for diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
Working Conditions:
The position involves working in an indoor office environment with physical demands including standing, walking, and lifting up to 20 lbs. Candidates should be prepared to engage with students and animals in a hands-on educational setting.
