Position Title: Facilities Maintenance Mechanic

Position Overview:

The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is accountable for the effective operation, repair, and upkeep of various building mechanical systems, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC components. This role requires the ability to handle heavy machinery and work in diverse environmental conditions. The technician will respond to service requests and address emergency situations promptly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform operation, repair, and maintenance tasks on mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Install and maintain electrical circuits and systems.
  • Conduct repairs on plumbing fixtures and systems, including soldering and threading pipes.
  • Prepare systems for maintenance by draining and securing them.
  • Execute minor carpentry work, such as replacing ceiling tiles and repairing door hardware.
  • Carry out basic electrical tasks, including changing bulbs and ballasts.
  • Maintain air handling units and ensure optimal performance through cleaning and inspection.
  • Manage the assembly and maintenance of chilled and hot water systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections and operations of emergency generators.
  • Order necessary materials for repair tasks.
  • Engage in preventive maintenance activities, including filter changes and lubrication.
  • Inspect and document the condition of mechanical and electrical systems, providing reports to supervisors.
  • Perform additional duties as required within the scope of responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in relevant mechanical trades or trade school education in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or related fields.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in operating central plant equipment and building systems.
  • Proven expertise in repairing electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to safely manage hydronic and electrical systems during maintenance.
  • Experience in soldering and threading pipes.
  • Basic carpentry skills are essential.
  • Strong understanding of building auxiliary systems, including fire safety and emergency generators.
  • Familiarity with general building systems, such as vertical lifts and overhead doors.
  • Valid driver's license and capability to operate vehicles as required.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures in maintenance operations.
  • Physical capability to perform demanding tasks, including climbing, lifting, and entering confined spaces.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Work Schedule: Day Shift, Monday through Friday
