Position Title: Facilities Maintenance Mechanic

Position Overview:

The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the effective operation, repair, and upkeep of various building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. This role requires the ability to handle heavy equipment and perform tasks in varying environmental conditions. The technician will respond to service requests and address emergency situations promptly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct operation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Install and maintain electrical circuits and components.
  • Repair restroom fixtures and perform plumbing tasks including soldering and threading pipes.
  • Safely drain and prepare systems for maintenance work.
  • Execute minor carpentry tasks, including ceiling tile replacement and door hardware repairs.
  • Perform basic electrical work, such as bulb and ballast replacements.
  • Maintain optimal performance of air handling units by cleaning coils.
  • Assemble and maintain chilled and hot water systems.
  • Regularly inspect and operate emergency generators and related equipment.
  • Order necessary materials for repair tasks.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, including filter changes and lubrication, and replace motors and dampers as needed.
  • Inspect and document the condition of mechanical and electrical systems, providing reports to supervisors.
  • Perform additional duties as required within the scope of the role.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in relevant mechanical trades or completion of a trade school program in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or related fields.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in operating and maintaining central plant equipment and building systems.
  • Proven skills in repairing electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to safely secure systems for maintenance work.
  • Experience in soldering and threading pipes.
  • Basic carpentry skills are preferred.
  • Strong understanding of building auxiliary systems, including fire safety and emergency generators.
  • Familiarity with general building systems such as vertical lifts and overhead doors.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles as required.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices in maintenance operations.
  • Physical capability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Work Schedule: Day Shift - Monday through Friday
