Position Title: Facilities Maintenance Mechanic

Position Overview:

The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the effective operation, repair, and upkeep of various building systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to work in diverse environmental conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform operation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems, including air handling units, pumps, and control systems.
  • Install and troubleshoot electrical circuits.
  • Conduct repairs on restroom fixtures and plumbing systems, including soldering and threading pipes.
  • Safely drain and isolate systems for maintenance tasks.
  • Execute minor carpentry work, such as replacing ceiling tiles and repairing door hardware.
  • Carry out basic electrical maintenance, including bulb and ballast replacements.
  • Maintain optimal performance of air handling units by cleaning coils and components.
  • Assemble and maintain chilled and hot water systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections and operations of emergency generators.
  • Order necessary materials for repair tasks.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including filter changes and lubrication of mechanical systems.
  • Inspect and document the condition of mechanical and electrical systems, providing reports to supervisors.
  • Complete additional duties as required within the scope of the role.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in relevant mechanical trades or completion of a trade school program in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or related fields.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the maintenance of central plant equipment and building systems.
  • Proven skills in repairing electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Experience in safely securing systems for maintenance activities.
  • Ability to solder and thread pipes as needed.
  • Basic carpentry skills are preferred.
  • Strong understanding of building auxiliary systems, including fire safety and emergency generators.
  • Familiarity with general building systems, such as vertical lifts and overhead doors.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to operate vehicles as required.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices in maintenance operations.
  • Physical capability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting and climbing.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Work Schedule: Day Shift - Monday through Friday
