Position Title: Facilities Maintenance Mechanic
Position Overview:
The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the effective operation, repair, and upkeep of various building systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components. This role involves handling heavy equipment and working in varying environmental conditions. The technician will respond to service requests and take prompt action to address emergencies or system failures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct operation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and control systems, including air handling units, pumps, and motors.
- Install and maintain electrical circuits.
- Perform repairs on restroom fixtures and plumbing systems, including soldering and threading pipes.
- Safely drain and isolate systems for maintenance tasks.
- Execute minor carpentry work, such as replacing ceiling tiles and repairing door hardware.
- Carry out basic electrical tasks, including bulb and ballast replacements.
- Maintain air handling units and convectors by cleaning coils for optimal performance.
- Assemble and maintain chilled and hot water systems.
- Regularly inspect and operate emergency generators and related components.
- Order necessary materials for repairs and maintenance.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including filter changes and lubrication, and replace motors and dampers as needed.
- Inspect and document the condition of mechanical and electrical systems, and report findings to supervisors.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as required within the scope of the role.
Qualifications:
- Certification in relevant mechanical trades or trade school education in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or Hydraulics.
- A minimum of five years of experience in operating central plant equipment and building systems.
- Proven skills in repairing electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Experience in safely securing systems for maintenance work.
- Ability to solder and thread pipes effectively.
- Basic carpentry skills are preferred.
- Strong understanding of building auxiliary systems, including fire safety and emergency generators.
- Familiarity with general building systems, such as vertical lifts and overhead doors.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to operate vehicles as needed.
- Knowledge of safe work practices and maintenance procedures.
- Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
- Proficient in using various hand and power tools safely.
Work Schedule: Day Shift - Monday through Friday
