Role Purpose

Under the guidance of the Recovery House and Respite Manager, the Community Support Coordinator is responsible for ensuring safety, organization, and program management for up to 19 clients requiring 24/7 shelter, including those in transitional housing and individuals recovering from medical procedures. This role involves collaboration with local shelters and social service agencies to create an environment that embodies the principles of Trauma-Informed Care: Safety, Trustworthiness, Choice, Collaboration, and Empowerment.

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Proven ability to lead and motivate individuals.
  • Comprehensive understanding of residential services for the homeless population.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard desktop applications.
  • Ability to effectively navigate local networks of substance abuse, mental health, and social service providers.
  • Familiarity with mental health, substance abuse, dual diagnosis issues, and group dynamics.
  • Knowledge of local housing and vocational/entitlement programs.
  • Culturally aware; Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of crisis intervention, confidentiality, boundaries, and universal precautions.
  • Ability to fulfill all documentation requirements.
  • Capacity to promote a Harm Reduction approach within the workplace.
  • Strong empathy skills combined with reliability and punctuality.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular wellness checks on clients.
  • Oversee up to nineteen clients to ensure adherence to house rules.
  • Provide counseling to clients to support their recovery service plans.
  • Assist in maintaining the security of the shelter and keep hourly logs.
  • Monitor and document medication administration.
  • Facilitate the movement of client belongings as needed.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of rooms for new admissions.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and social service providers.
  • Participate in agency and program meetings as required.
  • Complete all necessary reports and incident logs.
  • Input data into the computer system as instructed.
  • Provide coverage for other staff during breaks.
  • Remain on-site to perform essential duties during emergencies as directed.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Supervision: Recovery House and Respite Manager
Compensation: $17.00/hr
Schedule: Saturday - Sunday 4pm - 12am
