Job Overview

At KPERS, we prioritize our members and their financial well-being. We are seeking a dedicated Senior Financial Accountant to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting and compliance with established standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage comprehensive financial reports, including cash flow forecasts and monthly financial statements.
  • Conduct thorough research on accounting regulations and communicate potential impacts of changes to management.
  • Prepare financial data for actuarial assessments and ensure compliance with GAAP and GASB standards.
  • Oversee compliance with federal tax regulations and manage IRS reporting for member contributions.
  • Implement and monitor auditing procedures for contributions from participating employers to ensure legislative compliance.
  • Manage accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely collection of contributions and assessments.
  • Evaluate and enhance existing accounting systems to improve operational efficiency and control.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design and implement accounting-related software solutions.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of five years of accounting experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with substantial coursework in accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software systems.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulatory compliance.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
