About the Role

Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are seeking a highly skilled Executive Director of IDD Services to lead and manage our operations in Manhattan, NY.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Management: Oversee daily operations and ensure compliance with state licensing and reporting standards.
  • Strategic Planning: Formulate and implement an advisory board to assist the organization in developing and expanding resources to improve service delivery.
  • Operational Excellence: Assess operational issues and develop comprehensive solutions to maintain a high-quality program.
  • Resource Development: Locate and recommend appropriate grant and funding opportunities.
  • Fundraising: Conduct fundraising activities that effectively promote the needs of the national organization.
  • Public Relations: Promote and maintain a positive public image of Community Options and our mission.
  • Human Resources: Develop, implement, supervise, and coordinate all office procedures, programs, and services.
  • Personnel Management: Recommend sound personnel practices in employee recruitment, evaluations, compensation, employee benefits, and terminations.
  • Investigations: May conduct programmatic investigations.
  • Financial Management: Institute and maintain appropriate management, financial, and personnel controls, and provide the national office with the necessary documentation and paperwork.
  • Reporting: Prepare required statistical, financial, and service reports as needed.
  • Government Relations: Interface with local, state, and governmental agencies.
  • Goal Setting: Participate in developing long and short-term department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Act as a primary correspondent with state regulatory agencies.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree with five years of related experience in administrative and supervisory roles; master's degree preferred.
  • Driving Record: Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years experience with OPWDD regulations.
  • Electronic Health Records: Minimum of two years experience with electronic health records (Therap preferred).
  • Commitment to Disability Support: Understanding and commitment to community-based support for persons with disabilities.
  • Funding Knowledge: Understanding of funding sources and entitlement programs for people with disabilities.
  • Stakeholder Partnerships: Ability to partner across internal/external stakeholders, government officials, and industry associations.
  • Leadership Experience: Team-oriented with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively present facts and recommendations verbally and in written form.
  • Problem-Solving: Experience with problem-solving against multiple priorities.
  • Crisis Management: Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations.
Working Conditions
  • Travel: Frequent local travel is required utilizing your own vehicle or company-provided vehicles.
  • On-Call: May be required to be on-call in cooperation with other management staff.
  • Physical Demands: Frequent lifting, stretching, and other physical exertion may be required.
  • Lifting: May be required to lift or move 25+ pounds.
  • Exposure to Medical Conditions: May be exposed to various medical conditions and communicable diseases.
