Position Summary:
The Community Support Specialist role is designed to assist clinical teams in delivering community-based services to individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. This position involves engaging in personalized meetings with clients to facilitate planning and participation in various activities, aiding clients in attending appointments, and encouraging involvement in social and recreational events. While the Community Support Specialist typically does not participate in daily report meetings, they may be invited to clinical discussions and are responsible for maintaining close communication with the client's primary and/or clinical director to ensure cohesive collaboration aligned with the objectives and philosophy of the team and client. Most support services are rendered during evenings and weekends, with flexibility in scheduling considered as necessary. This role encompasses 5-10 hours of work per week, including daytime and weekend shifts.
Compensation Range: Minimum $50 / Mid $52.50 / Maximum $55
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Clinical Director and Community Support Manager to provide individualized support to clients. This includes, but is not limited to, assistance with community access, participation in events and activities, meal preparation, daily living tasks (such as grocery shopping, transportation, and home organization), medication observations, and fostering social interactions.
- Engage in weekly supervision sessions for community support and attend team meetings as required.
- Maintain precise written records of client interactions on a daily basis.
- Comply with all HIPAA regulations and federal client privacy laws.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Physical Requirements: The role involves walking, sitting, driving, using hands for typing and handling objects, reaching, bending, and communicating effectively.
- Work Environment: Most duties are performed outside of a traditional office setting.
Qualifications:
- A college degree in a Human Services field, or a high school diploma with at least two years of paid or volunteer experience working with adults experiencing severe and persistent mental illness.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
- Ability to establish supportive and trusting relationships with individuals facing severe and persistent mental health challenges, while respecting their rights and personal treatment preferences.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
