Olympic College is looking for a qualified Continuing Education Instructor to join our educational team. The primary objective of this role is to deliver non-credit courses through Olympic College Continuing Education (CE). The subject matter will depend on the instructor's area of expertise, with current interests including ballroom dancing, astronomy, and information technology.

The selected instructor will be responsible for developing a course proposal that aligns with continuing education standards, including curriculum design, class duration, learning outcomes, and material organization. Collaboration with CE staff will be essential to finalize scheduling and logistics for class offerings. Instructors will prepare and conduct classes while also evaluating student feedback to enhance the learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research to design a suitable course for continuing education.
  • Complete and submit the Course Proposal Form.
  • Identify any potential costs that students may incur.
  • Develop a comprehensive curriculum in accordance with OC guidelines.
  • Ensure curriculum includes clear learning outcomes and instructional hours.
  • Work with CE Program Specialist to determine classroom logistics and necessary resources.
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding evening and weekend classes.
  • Prepare the classroom environment for effective teaching.
  • Advise students on course expectations and potential costs.
  • Evaluate student satisfaction and course effectiveness.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
Documented expertise in the subject area, gained through professional experience or academic background.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior teaching experience and an Associate Degree or higher.

Additional Information:

Terms of Employment:
This position does not offer visa sponsorship. Only candidates authorized to work in the United States will be considered. Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to qualify for health benefits and 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement benefits. This role is part-time, with a maximum of 18 hours per week, at a rate of $50.00 per hour. Initial eligibility for benefits will not be available upon hire, but may include options such as retirement savings plans, sick leave, paid holidays, and more.

Conditions of Employment:
A background check, including criminal history, will be conducted prior to hiring. The results will be considered in evaluating the candidate's suitability for the position. Candidates must also complete the Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form as required by legislation.
