Continuing Education Instructor Salary: $50/hour

Reports to: Director of Continuing Education

Olympic College is looking for a qualified Continuing Education Instructor to deliver engaging non-credit courses. The primary responsibility of this role is to teach a variety of subjects based on the instructor's expertise. Current areas of interest include, but are not limited to, ballroom dancing, astronomy, and information technology.

The selected instructor will be responsible for developing a comprehensive course proposal that includes curriculum design, class duration, learning outcomes, and materials organization. Collaboration with Continuing Education staff will be essential to finalize scheduling and logistics for the courses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research to design a suitable course for continuing education.
  • Complete and submit the Course Proposal Form.
  • Identify potential costs that students may incur.
  • Develop a structured curriculum that includes clear learning outcomes and instructional hours.
  • Work with the CE Program Specialist to determine the appropriate location and resources needed for the class.
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding logistics for after-hours and weekend classes.
  • Prepare the classroom environment for effective teaching.
  • Provide guidance to students regarding course expectations and any associated costs.
  • Evaluate student satisfaction and learning outcomes post-course.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in the subject area, supported by relevant experience or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching experience.
  • Associate Degree or higher.

Additional Information:

Terms of Employment: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Hourly employees must complete 480 hours within a rolling six-month period to qualify for health benefits. This role offers up to 18 hours of work per week at a rate of $50.00 per hour. Benefits may include retirement savings plans, sick leave, paid holidays, and more, contingent upon hours worked.
