Position: Transitional Studies/Basic Skills Educator
Salary Range: $71,226 - $99,041
Department: Corrections Education
Reporting To: Associate Vice President of Instruction

Olympic College is in search of a committed Transitional Studies educator to deliver instruction in ABE/GED/HS+ and/or ELA within the Corrections Education program. This role is pivotal in fostering educational opportunities for individuals in correctional facilities. The educator will report to the Associate Dean of Corrections Education and will be responsible for teaching, developing instructional materials, evaluating student performance, and maintaining accurate educational records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver ABE, GED, HS+, and/or ELA courses utilizing diverse instructional strategies.
  • Collaborate with fellow faculty members on curriculum enhancement and program oversight.
  • Conduct interviews and assessments of potential students.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of student progress and accountability.
  • Ensure the classroom environment and educational resources are properly maintained.
  • Engage in mandatory meetings and professional development sessions.
Required Competencies:
  • Ability to engage respectfully with students from various backgrounds.
  • Design and execute curriculum that meets educational standards.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching diverse student groups.
  • Exhibit effective communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Adult Education or a related discipline.
  • At least two years of teaching experience.
  • Proficiency in intermediate-level technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Adult Education or a related field.
  • Experience in educational roles within correctional environments.
Employment Terms: This position is a temporary full-time faculty role that includes benefits. Flexibility in scheduling is essential as classes will be conducted at correctional facilities.
