Continuing Education Instructor Salary: $50/hour

Reports to: Director of Continuing Education

Olympic College is in search of a qualified Continuing Education Instructor. The primary objective of this role is to deliver non-credit courses provided by Olympic College Continuing Education (CE). The subjects taught will depend on the instructor's area of expertise, with current interests including ballroom dancing, astronomy, and information technology.

The instructor will be responsible for developing a course proposal that aligns with continuing education standards, detailing the curriculum, duration, learning outcomes, and organization of class materials. Collaboration with CE staff will be essential for scheduling class dates and times. Instructors are expected to prepare and deliver the course, as well as evaluate student satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research and design a course suitable for continuing education.
  • Complete and submit the Course Proposal Form.
  • Identify any potential costs that students may incur.
  • Develop a curriculum in accordance with OC protocols, including clear learning outcomes and instructional hours.
  • Work with the CE Program Specialist to determine the class location and necessary resources.
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding logistics for after-hours and weekend classes.
  • Prepare the classroom environment for effective teaching.
  • Advise students on course expectations and any associated costs.
  • Evaluate student feedback regarding the course.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven expertise in the subject area, demonstrated through experience or education.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior teaching experience
- Associate Degree or higher


Additional Information:
Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Only candidates authorized to work in the United States will be considered. Hourly employees must complete 480 hours within a rolling six-month period to qualify for health benefits. This position allows for up to 18 hours of work per week at a rate of $50.00 per hour. Benefits eligibility may be available after meeting specific criteria.
