Continuing Education Instructor Salary: $50/hour
Classification: Part-Time Hourly/Exempt
Reports to: Director of Continuing Education

Olympic College is in search of a qualified Continuing Education Instructor. The primary objective of this role is to deliver non-credit courses offered through Olympic College's Continuing Education (CE) program. The subjects taught will vary according to the instructor's expertise; currently, we are particularly interested in topics such as ballroom dancing, astronomy, and information technology.

The instructor will be responsible for developing a course proposal that aligns with continuing education standards, including curriculum design, class duration, expected outcomes, and organization of class materials. Collaboration with CE staff will be essential for scheduling class dates and times. Instructors will prepare and deliver the course, as well as evaluate student satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research and develop a suitable course for continuing education.
  • Complete and submit the Course Proposal Form.
  • Identify any potential costs that students may incur.
  • Utilize established protocols to create an effective curriculum.
  • Ensure curriculum includes clear outcomes and instructional hours.
  • Work with CE Program Specialist to determine class location and necessary resources.
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding logistics for after-hours and weekend classes.
  • Prepare the classroom environment for teaching.
  • Be available to advise students on course expectations and any associated costs.
  • Evaluate student satisfaction upon course completion.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Documented expertise in the subject area, through either experience or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching experience.
  • Associate Degree or higher.

Additional Information:
Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Only candidates authorized to work in the United States will be considered. Hourly employees must work 480 hours within a rolling six-month period to qualify for health benefits. This position is part-time, with a maximum of 18 hours per week, and a salary of $50.00 per hour. Benefits eligibility may include a Deferred Compensation Program, TIAA supplemental retirement savings plan, sick leave, paid holidays, and more.
